does anyone know the minimum amount of work needed to activate a planning consent, mine is about to run out and funds are preventing me getting on with the work, thanks.

Hi James,

It depends what the project is. If it were an extension or new build for example, implementing the permission can be defined as being "the turning of the first sod of earth". So if you were to go out and start excavating for the purposes of constructing the foundations then that in my mind is implementing the permission.

I hope this helps.

Cheers

Andy

Planning is not activated by the "amount of work", it normally grants permission to start the work within a 5 year period of the pp being granted so long as there is NOT a completion date in the pp. Check the details in your pp that the Council have given, you may even be able to apply for an extension which they will inform you by phone.
