Hi I had my roof done in 2008 and I'm in the middle of selling my house and I've just been asked for the concent form for when I had my roof done. Problem is I don't have one as I didn't know I'd need planning permission! I replaced like for like and the old roof was slate tiles and I replaced it with eternits roof tiles.which are lighter! Really worried as I can't afford to lose this sale! Ive not a clue what to do? Who do I contact? Etc etc

Dear Lynda,

I suggest to speak to your solicitor on this matter. Whilst retrospective planning permission is a solution, it will now prove fairly long-winded and may well compromise your sale. The alternative I believe is that you can take out some kind of insurance policy which would cover you in the event that the Local Authority wish to pursue regularising the situation. I suggest an early conversation with your solicitor.
