I am interested in extending but my partner feels it's a lot of effort for little profit when we do come to sell the house. Before we start paying out for plans and designs whats the best route to take to get an idea of the anticipated value of the house when it would be completed? The plan is:
* build a 2 story extention over a garage
* to add a 4th bedroom/En suite/walkin wardrobe
* extend the box room
* Push kitchen out to create a larger kitchen diner
* enlarge the living room.
Any help would be gratefully received........

Mads,
A valid point you make and 1 I think we should all consider when we are undertaking improvement work. The best and most viable option is to get an estate agent local to you to value your property. With thier knowledge and experience of the local housing market, they should be able to give you a fairly accurate "valuation" of what the house is presently worth and what it may be worth once the works have been undertaken.
