Garage conversion height

Hi,
Can anyone advise please. We have a garage the full depth of the house, 25'. We'd like to convert it and divide with a partition. One half as an office the other as a kitchen extension.

Trouble is to get the ceiling height to match that of the existing kitchen the brickwork for the garage is going to have to be raised by about 5 course of brick. The property is a semi with the garage in question nearly adjoined to next doors garage. Will this require planning permission?

Thank you
Mike

Assuming your PD rights are intact you might not require planning permission - depends on the height of the extension and its eaves as it will be within 2m of your boundary - it seems the proposed 'use' of the space is 'incidental to the enjoyment of the dwellinghouse'.
