Hi
We are doing an single storey extension in the rear of our garden under PD. Is there anything in the regulations that states what the overhang can be up to? I’ve tried looking and appears to be silent on this aspect?

Not specifically but be careful that you don’t start to enter into the realms of a verandah, which are not PD.

Hi thank you for the reply. It overhangs the front elevation by no more than 1 metre. Not sure if it would then fall foul if the regulations and be termed as a veranda?

I’ve had overhangs of 600mm accepted via PD before. 1m is obviously quite a bit more. Can that overhang be supported without any vertical supports?

Hi
Thank you fly the reply. If we do go for the 1 metre overhang then yes it will need vertical supports either end

That may then take you into ‘veranda’ territory as it’ll be a covered walkway. Btw, this is an extension as opposed to an outbuilding?
