Amending approved planning application

Hi,
We have had a planning application approved. On that planning application as part of the agreed planning we have to have a window glazed for obscured vision (its a bathroom so not a problem). For one reason or another we have extended by 1.4m over the agreed plans and the local authority have written to us (nothing else has changed apart from it being longer).

They seem to think we need to apply for a section 73 but I was thinking this is probably a bit overkill given the plans are exactly the sae just stretched by 1.4m? Can anyone advise? Thanks

An increase in bulk/mass/volume is not considered a minor amendment, which is why a S73/Variation of Condition application has been suggested. Your other option is a revised Householder/Full application depending on what you had submitted initially.
