Unused electricity substation conversion to residential property

Is it possbible to convert an unused electricity substation to a residential property? The substation is on greenbelt but surround by other developments.

Appreciate if you can someone can help to understand the risks and options.

It would depend on the Council’s Local Plan policies. It would be worth seeking the Council’s Pre-application advice prior to the submission of a formal Planning application.

Hi- Of most concern is the ground quality to ensure no PCB's are present. Contaminated ground needs remediation, this could be costly. Research in the locality for a history of the site. The library in the vicinity of the sub/s should have details.
In order to preserve Neo-classical industrial architecture much love & perservance is needed.
Also a worthy cause retain the greenbelt.
