Hi, we live in a flat/maisonette in an AONB. I'd been planning g to put a medium sized pergola (2.5 x 3m) on my patio but on asking around, it seems a pergola needs a planning permission if it's in the garden of a flat/maisonette. Is this right? It is under 2.5m in height. Thank you.

Flats or maisonettes do not usually benefit from PD rights, so may well require Planning. If it was a normal dwellinghouse, there are additional restrictions when within an AONB.

That's correct to Damian response of maisonette don't qualify under the permitted development rights therfore planning would need to be submitted. Would be interested on how you get along with your project. Please do keep me updated will appreciate it.
