Side Extension - Permitted Development

Hello,
Apologies if this has been asked previously... my question is around side extensions and what constitutes 'fronting a highway'. We are looking to add a single storey side extension to our house - it is a detached house which has a main road running parallel to the front of the house and fields to the left, right and rear of the property - would this fall under permitted development? The longest wall of the extension would look out onto a hedge/field at the side but there would also be a window/door looking out to the front/highway... bit confused. Thanks for any advice!

This would only apply if you’re a corner plot, i.e. having a highway to the front AND side of the property. Sounds like you only have a highway/road to the front so the normal PD rules for side extensions would apply.

Thanks Damian, I had thought as much then wondered if I was misinterpeting the terminology! Appreciate the clarification :)
