Tree house instead of an old shed

We had an old wooden potting shed at the bottom of the garden (approx. 4m x 2m) which I've since removed. Ive just constructed a platform 1.5 meters off the ground (measuring 3m x 3m) and my wife's ordered a 'tree house' kit measuring 10ft x 8ft and 8ft high). So the final tree house is about the same (about 1m taller though as the old shed was sunken).
Do I need Planning Permission.
House is inside the conservation area of a lovely 'near London' town.
