yard with B8 permission

hello
I hope someone has knowledge on this one...
I own a small lock up yard which has B8 permission (storage and distribution).
this particular yard has building material storage.

my first question is _ in order to be able to store cars and car parts, do i need B1 permission or sui generis, or another category?

in order to get the above change in categories, do i need to submit a planning for to the local council or can they do this of free?
